Phoebe is an elderly Sheltie who was rescued last year by Jackie Evans of Elderdog Canada in Nova Scotia – she is now Jackie’s “furever” dog. Marijke was asked to help Phoebe with her health problems which included hind end weakness, low energy, depression, weight gain and kidney weakness. To take the load off the kidneys and for detoxification we had Phoebe slowly change her diet to low protein and added more healthy whole grains, vegetables and soup broths. To aid the kidneys further we added sea salt and parsley to the diet to balance the sodium and potassium levels.
Phoebe was also given Pro-Colon probiotics, Vitamin E, Bone-Up and Joint-Clear. Within two weeks Jackie reported that Phoebe’s back end was stronger, she lost weight, and she had more energy and was happier. Then Jackie reported that Phoebe was trembling a lot and she was worried that the trembling was a sign of ill health. Marijke suggested that Phoebe was trembling with emotion – almost like a sign of gratitude to show her appreciation for her new and caring, loving home. From the time that Jackie received Marijke’s message Phoebe did not tremble again because she knew that Jackie now understood how she was feeling.
