I’m into my fourth week as a mother, and cannot believe how fast time goes by – my baby boy Leo is a healthy, happy guy with lots to offer me in the way of learning new skills!!
I want to share a testimonial with you for the Riva’s Calm Aid.
The plan was to give Calm Aid to Stable – our 5 year old Great Dane/ Rottweiler X – when we brought home our newborn baby boy Leo. Stable has a tendency to be boisterous, big in body and mentality! She’s 105 lbs of lovable dog, but she can also become reactive in new or strange situations. For this reason I have never introduced her to babies or young children. When I was pregnant I put a lot of positive thoughts and visions into Stable being the perfect Nanny dog, hoping that she would somehow grasp my feelings for her to be soft and accepting of the baby. I really had no other plan for her in the case that things didn’t work out – I just hoped that plan A was going to be fine for everyone.
When we arrived home around lunch time with the baby, we gave Stable her first dose of Calm Aid, and then again each time she seemed to get overly excited or concerned – like during diaper change when the baby would cry out. We strategically placed the baby where Stable could smell and see him without having too much free access to him. Our afternoon was quiet, trying to keep the environment relaxed and normal for her. By bedtime Stable was soft in her expression, curious of the baby but gentle and slow to move around him. Her usual intense expression that she wears around new things was non-existent, and she laid in her bed watching each time we were up in the night.
Within the first 24 hours of arriving home, Stable had taken on her new role, laying near the baby wherever he was. She goes to him when he is stirring before he cries, as though she is checking on him. Our perfect Nanny dog. Thank you for giving us such a gret tool. The Calm Aid really helped during this transitional period.
Hoping all is well with you and yours,
Jess and Ken Fobert
